The Salad Chef food was established in July 1993, mainly the savings as the seed capital funded this venture, with small assistance from the banks. The location chosen for this venture was Vasant Vihar in New Delhi because this area is one of the prominent places in city and it is associated with the upper and the upper middle class strata of residents with a high disposable income along with an outlook, which encompasses health food as a fashion as well as necessity.
The main objective was to bring a unique concept offering variety of salads including sandwiches, burgers, bakery & confectionery. Since then, salad chef food has grown many folds. The initial response was tremendous; the popularity of the outlet grew through word of mouth and regular appearances of articles in popular daily newspapers. It consistently upgraded and innovated its product range through customer feedback system and R&D. It achieved break-even sales within six months of its inception. The Salad chef foods have since then operated five franchise outlets at different places of Delhi in different period’s between1995-2000.
After the success, it also conducted & coordinated the organization of Salad festival in the city. It also has been active in demonstrating salad preparation on different T.V.channels and sponsoring the salad recipes in newspaper columns to promote the idea. With the increase in the awareness of Salad concept, Salad Chef ventured into out-doors catering business for different parties and festive occasions. The salad chef foods is catering outdoors for wedding and other occasions through its hot and cold mobile trolleys for Live Pastas, Live Thai Station, Mexican & Grilled sandwich Station, Pizza Corner, Mock tail Station, Continental counter with Bakes, Exotic Dessert Bar and complete salad bar.
People & media both now regard salad chef as "THE" Salad bar in the town and highly value it’s catering for variety of cuisines.

It is also open to franchising for expansion.

“Salad chef foods” has been into out-dooring catering for last six years and has earned a very good name for itself in the field of catering. The big occasions like weddings, parties etc. used to be the domain of caterers dealing in all kind of cuisine without specialization but that is breaking due to increased demand of the hosts to serve specialized products, which has resulted in growth of the catering business for the Salad chef foods.
The Salad chef foods started these caterings through innovative way of providing the Salad Bar / Live Pasta Bar/ Dessert Bar in beautifully made and decorated, wooden mobile trolleys at their site, where in guests can either create their concoctions or stick to the readymade products. The whole idea behind this is to make eating, an entertaining activity & unforgettable experience, to increase the awareness about the healthy food and to prioritize excellent hygiene and quality of the food. The wooden trolleys are made of stainless steel 304 (A food grade steel) from inside and installed with refrigeration or heating systems as per the requirement. They have the excellent visibility as the products and the ingredients are kept in the food grade imported transparent polycarbonate containers.
